Financial Accountant - Drive Accuracy,Compliance & Financial Excellence

About the Role

The Financial Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the organisation’s financial integrity, compliance, and sustainability by delivering accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting.

The role ensures effective financial operations, with a focus on cash flow management, debt oversight, balance sheet integrity, and high-quality reporting. Working closely with the Accounts Payable and Revenue teams, the position supports accurate and compliant financial information in line with organisational policies, accounting standards, and legislative requirements. It also contributes to statutory reporting, including Quarterly and Aged Care Financial Reports, supports audit processes, and drives continuous improvement across financial systems, processes, and controls.

 

What will you do?

  • Prepare and process journals including accruals, prepayments, and standard accounting adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate financial records by completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating and resolving month-end variances in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and submit GST reports in compliance with ATO requirements and internal deadlines.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasting to ensure liquidity and alignment with operational needs.
  • Assist with audit processes and statutory reporting, including preparation of QFR, ACFR, and responding to audit queries while maintaining audit-ready documentation.

More About you

  • You hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline
  • You hold a CA/CPA qualification or nearing completion
  • You bring extensive experience in month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, GST, fixed assets, and statutory reporting.
  • You demonstrate excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and support budgeting and forecasting.
  • You possess strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • You are highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with ERP systems. Experience with TechnologyOne considered desirable.
  • You maintain a current Australian driver’s licence (P2 or above) and are willing to travel as required.

 

Candidates may be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment with the successful candidate requiring current NDIS worker clearance. In accordance with current health guidelines for the aged care sector, candidates are encouraged to have all recommended vaccinations.
